Shared Topic Idea: Interface and Addons

Hi guys, Today is the deadline of the bi-weekly Shared Topic Idea brought to you by yourstruly over at Blog Azeroth. I thought about this topic since I was curious what Interface you guys have or addons you use that is beneficial to your own play style either you are a raider, pvper, or soloing.

Glad to check out Velgana and Andre on there thoughts on this topic as well and its great to know what addons they are using and which they prefer on their own play style. As for me, I want to keep my gaming visible to my eyes, organized and not clustered fck that I don't know what spells im throwing out there.

Resourceful Sites that I use for addons are Curse, WoWinterface and WoWMatrix. These sites helps me choose updated addons for the game. It is very useful and easy to download as well. WoWMatrix just make it more easier for me to download it as a 3rd party application for me to use and download apps from Curse and WoWinterface in 1. its like having a 3 in 1 engine all together, Don't hesitate to try WoWmatrix its really useful, 1 click to check on if your addons are all up to date as well.

As far as addons, I don't have so many but what I have are useful ones that I use for raiding and for soloing. I don't pvp but my interface is one pack that comes with all of it, well most of it. and I recommend you guys to check out the following addons. Description are also noted here.

I will also show you some of the screenshots I took from in game what my interface looks like in groups or raid party. I used to have Elvui and Tukui minimalistic Interface which also comes with a few addons built.in with the interface. But when I found out about Dark ShestackUI I was amazed how organized it is. I definitely recommend. Especially the Grid addons that is actually in favor for me as a healer that the boxes are right infront in the center of my monitor.

Also, The combat texts and cast bar and all that are very well organized as well. So check it out your whole gaming experience will be more exciting I recommend it. Anyway, Thanks for coming by guys I appreciate it. I don't have many addons but the ones I have are all useful to me. Each and every player has its own taste and how their interface will look like and what addons they have.

But overall my goal is not to use up too much memory in terms of how big the addon will be that will not cause any lag or freezes of your game. and you will still enjoy playing and have fun. Take care guys and Happy Memorial Day! To all soldiers who serve the nation Thank you for all your hard work, and to those who lose their lives in battle your service are all appreciated your a hero in our hearts and this holiday sure is to celebrate in memory of all of you. Thanks and Have a great day!

Shared Topic: One vs Many? (Solo vs Party Questing)

Hi everyone! This week's Shared Topic over at Blog Azeroth is brought to you by Martha.net. She asked "While there are some quests that specifically call for grouping, most don't... but do you group anyway? How many of you pick up a friend or guildie to quest with and how many grind the lonely roads alone?" I just thought I share my experience to everyone about this topic because I do find it interesting, So here goes.

Dotdododotdot..dot...dot... Dotimer?

Hi guys, another day for exciting Addon review this week, As a shadow priest and being an addon junkie, I always try out some addons that will help my priest in game especially when I raid. This week I will review about Dotimer, this is an in-game mod, pretty standard and popular for all shadow priests and even other classes out there, but for some players it's just an optional mod that's okay too but to know more about it I will go ahead and explain it to detail how it works, I thank you Asheyla for making this addon, It really helps a lot of us having this mod and guys this is also ready and updated for Patch 4.1 so try it now.

What is Dotimer?
"It is a comprehensive suite for managing various things that need timing. These includes your Dots/Hots, your cooldowns, buffs/debuffs on you."
How does it work?
Dotimer accomplishes the task by breaking into sub-addons: Dotimer, Cooldowns, and PlayerAuras, respectively. A fourth sub-addons, Notifications, is also included. All four can be enabled/disabled and costumized seperately. The reason for including all of these together in one addon is for interoperability. You can costumize the timers to an extreme extent.

It is really simple to use, its functionality also fit with the timers in three categories, Standard, No Target, and Party buffs. Standard timers are timers on specific mobs. No target timers are timers that can affect multiple mobs at once or none at all, like Howl of terror. Party buffs are buffs cast on the party; you can set it up so that they get combined into a single timer so that tracking them is much easier (and less spammy onscreen). To know more about Dotimer please visit here.

In my opinion
The mod itself is very helpful for shadow priests or any class in game because we often try to keep track our debuffs, dots, and even hots on top of our interface. So avoiding looking up, having these set up maybe just below your interface beside your cast bar or top of your spell bar even eye level to where you can see it easily makes a big difference. If you don't have some kind of notification besides using Power Auras, I suggest this mod for good use not only does it give you that functionality of having timers but also helps your damage output, because honestly as a caster dps, I don't think there is an excuse to miss using your dot's and not keeping an eye of it, This is one way of  keeping track of that.

If you don't have this mod yet, I suggest you guys to try it out and Download it here. Some players may have other options similar to this in game mod that's okay too. my point of showing this review is just not to ignore your timers because it plays an important role of playing your class better. Have a good one guys!

My Reviews on Leatrix Latency Fix

Hi guys! 2 years ago, I was in Khaz Modan server with my priest and most of my guild mate were having trouble with latency. Naina one of my close friend in the guild shared a great tool for those having issues in game i.e lag and latency. The disconnection problems in game causes our progression during Wrath of Lich King failed  immensely. So we found Leatrix Latency Fix.

What is Leatrix Latency Fix?

"Leatrix Latency Fix will reduce your online gaming latency significantly by increasing the frequency of TCP acknowledgements sent to the game server. For the technically minded, this is a script which will modify TCPAckFrequency. You will see reduced latency in many online games including World of Warcraft, Rift, Aion, Warhammer, Lord of the Rings, and more". - Leatrix (author)

And also "Blizzard implemented a checkbox option to disable nagling in World of Warcraft patch 4.1 (referred to as 'network optimisation'). This only serves to disable nagling on data packets so that data packets can be sent to the server more frequently. Leatrix Latency Fix disables nagling on acknowledgement packets to force faster responses from the server, they're two different things and can be used together. This question has been answered in the FAQ too". - Leatrix (author)

The installation of this tool is easy but I recommend you read all the information before doing anything, it is best that you understand the process of this tool on how it works. My guild mates tried it and it works wonders from latency of 300fps it went down most half of it and was very stable too. since then our progression in guild was doing great. My recent guild here in Staghelm is also having same issues and when I recommend them to check this out, it helped them I was glad. The good thing about the tool not only works in World of Warcraft but other games as well including Rift, Aion and other MMO games. So If you want to know more about this tool please read here. Make sure to also know the System Requirements before using this tool. Thank you Leatrix, Keep up the good work and for updating this tool to keep it working.

Anyway, I definitely recommend this tool for healers and tanks too because I know how your job is and making sure you have stable connection during raids and don't have any lag issues in game will help a lot if, but take note that this is an option for those players who doesn't have a good computer video cards or something. This tool will saved you a lot. It is one of the top Tools used in game. and its safe too. For anymore details you can also visit the official website of this tool. Thanks for reading today's Addon reviews, this was brought to you by WoW Interface. Have a good one guys!

Shadow Priest Power Auras

Hi guys, I just thought to repost this power auras here from my old blog at Christine's Blog (it is now deactivated and no longer accessible). So hope this auras will still help, since Patch 4.1 was released it is still working and no  problems at all. But I advised you update the Power Auras addon itself before importing these strings. If you have not download the addon yet, I suggest doing it now. Click here. Installing and following simple steps how to import the aura string to work in game I will show you below how.

UPDATED AND STILL WORKS FOR PATCH 4.2 FIRELANDS, ANY SUGGESTIONS AND COMMENTS WRITE BELOW THANKS!!!

  1. Download the Addon Power Auras in your World of Warcraft folder > Interface > Addons
  2. Logged in game and type /powa
  3. Click Import Set
  4. Copy the strings below and Press Ctrl V to paste the strings in the Import set box (Location for your strings needs to be in Page not Global.
  5. Done! you should be able to test all the auras with the dummy, no problem. Enjoy!
Set=Page 1@Aura[1]=Version:4.9; b:0.651; g:0.7176; icon:inv_chaos_orb; buffname:empowered shadow; texture:4; alpha:1; size:1.43@Aura[2]=Version:4.9; b:0.9765; g:0.0549; icon:Spell_Holy_DivineIllumination; buffname:dark evangelism; r:0.9647; stacks:1; texture:89@Aura[3]=Version:4.9; b:0.9765; g:0.0314; icon:Spell_Holy_DivineIllumination; buffname:dark evangelism; r:0.6863; stacks:2; texture:90@Aura[4]=Version:4.9; g:0; icon:Spell_Holy_DivineIllumination; buffname:dark evangelism; r:0.7176; stacks:3; texture:91@Aura[5]=Version:4.9; g:0.0353; icon:Spell_Holy_DivineIllumination; buffname:dark evangelism; r:0.749; stacks:4; texture:92@Aura[6]=Version:4.9; b:0.8902; g:0.4706; icon:Spell_Holy_DivineIllumination; buffname:dark evangelism; stacks:5; texture:94@Aura[7]=Version:4.9; icon:spell_priest_shadoworbs; buffname:shadow orb; texture:2; size:0.96; stacks.enabled:true; stacks.y:34; stacks.x:-4@Aura[8]=Version:4.9; target:true; icon:Spell_Shadow_ShadowWordPain; buffname:pain; x:-7; bufftype:2; owntex:true; mine:true; size:0.15; y:-185; texmode:2; timer.HideLeadingZeros:true; timer.enabled:true; timer.cents:false; timer.Relative:TOP; timer.Transparent:true@Aura[9]=Version:4.9; target:true; icon:Spell_Shadow_DevouringPlague; buffname:devouring plague; x:45; bufftype:2; owntex:true; mine:true; size:0.15; y:-186; texmode:2; timer.HideLeadingZeros:true; timer.enabled:true; timer.cents:false; timer.Relative:TOP; timer.Transparent:true@Aura[10]=Version:4.9; target:true; icon:Spell_Holy_Stoicism; buffname:vampiric touch; x:-58; bufftype:2; owntex:true; mine:true; size:0.15; y:-185; texmode:2; timer.HideLeadingZeros:true; timer.enabled:true; timer.cents:false; timer.Relative:TOP; timer.Transparent:true@
For some reason though that if its not working, and you are using a non default interface (not World of Warcraft Interface), it helps that you relogged disable your interface first Test all the auras if its working or not, relogged again enable your interface and your auras should be working now. let me know if there are any problems regarding this, but so far I had been using these auras for a while now and it just works okay. I do want to give credit to Midnight who is my guild mate she helped me with these auras, i added to these strings are the timers importantly for the Empowered Shadow so I don’t have to look up under my buff interface. Anyway, hope this set string will help you in long run, share it to anyone who is playing shadow priest. Thanks guys! and Have a good one! <3

Interface, Addons, and Poll question of the week reviews.

Hi guys, I apologized for unable to post anything yesterday , I went to a friends house for a bridal shower party and I stayed over until I had to go to work overnights. Anyway, to make up with you all I will go ahead and post 2 of my daily topics for this week. Note: Day 3 and Day 4 response for the 20 days Wow Blogging challenge over at Spellbound will be posted in two separate blog post. Thank you!
  1. Yesterday Sat: Addons/Interface Reviews
  2. Today: Sun: Poll question review
MY INTERFACE

Since Wrath of Lich King expansion came out, I was searching a lot of minimalistic interface for World of Warcraft, I used so many but when I discover "Tukui" I was amazed! the configuration and installation was so easy! its very user friendly and it actually decreases your frame per seconds (latency) in game for better game performance, and doesn't take any much memory used for your game and pc because all the addons used for this interface is a compilation and doesn't need updates once installed and used for any type of role in game (healer, tank or dps). And besides the interface itself, it is very compact, very organized. I also added a few addons that I always used in game since few years back. take note that the addons I added with the interface I used needs updates. If you want to know more about Tukui's interface please visit there official website.

My Inteface using Tukui =D
MY ADDONS

Here are my addons that I added with my interface, I am a addon junkie and if there is something new I always try them, these addons help me play better, some players think its not epic enough to play with addons they rather not use any and they will think that they are better players, I think in my opinion its just a choice. I admit I was a clicker during Burning Crusade I am an old school player and even now I still do click sometimes, but with addons it helps better during raids especially when healing, having good raid frames and mouse over buttons makes a big difference. Anyway, all my addons are download from Curse or WoWInterface. and if I had to update them I used WoWmatrix. In alphabetical order are the addons I used and they are all ready for Patch 4.1.
  1. Atlasloot - I used this addon to know the latest updates and great collection of gears for pve and pvp in game, its very handy because not only shows you what dungeon the gears are from but also specifically listed per which boss, This addon not only gives information about the gears but can also be used for trade skills from about what mats to use for certain items like making potions and enchanting.
  2. AuctionLite - This addon has its best features for auctioning, buying and selling for mostly any items in game, easy to use and can keep track of lowest bids of items, it is actually lite yet a powerful tool to use, the tooltip shows you disenchants, vendor, auction prices too!
  3. Deadly Boss Mods - As always been a great help on boss timers for raiding purposes, definitely recommended to have, there are some that you can use too like Bigwigs, they both have same functionality.
  4. Easy Mail - I love this addon not only helps me gather all the auction profits, items in just 1 click, and storing character names or for someone you want the items send to. its very useful especially for your bank toons.
  5. Fishing Buddy - I also like this addon so easy to keep track what fish in what pool area your going to , easy reapplying your lure, timers and more.
  6. Multishot - Its a achievement camera that takes screenshots every time you get an achievement great to store and configure what achievements you like to auto shot. its great!
  7. Omen Threat Meter - Definitely a must have for any raiders or even just for players who tanks, dps and healing dungeons. it is a requirement to know your threat status to avoid aggro from boss damage, of course who wants to get one shot dead by the boss in game lolx, gotta watch out! like one of the addon's sound features "Run little girl, Run!".
  8. Power Auras - This addon works wonders! I love this especially that I am now a dpsing really helps me a lot to keep track of my own buffs around my characters, because of the glowy effects 3d drawings, it is one way of looking at the most important buffs besides looking at other buffs in your buff/debuff frames.
  9. Skada Damage meters - I just recently used this addon besides of me used Recount for the longest time, Recount was not updated and is not working in this patch 4.1. Skada works just fine and they have same functionality when tracking damage output and healing.
  10. TipTac - This addon is for my tooltips, it helps me move it wherever I want so it will not cover my interface frames. it has a lot of functionalities besides moving the tooltip to a different area but also shows buffs and debuffs of the target, also gives out information like specs, talent and color identification if its an enemy or not when you target a player.
  11. Vudho - Last but not the least, my raid interface.. besides World of Warcraft display of raid frames Vuhdo has more features that makes it exceptional and very user friendly, you can configure the size and fonts, mouse over functions, trinkets, and more. I recommend it for all healers out there too. besides this addon there are some similar raid frames you can use which I also recommend like Grid (has not updated for this patch 4.1 yet) and X-perl.
For those wondering besides having Tukui interface and with all these addons I added does it take too much memory, honestly No, I only used about 18.38mb and My game performance is great! Anyway, hope you can use these addons I definitely recommend them especially for priests out there. =D

POLL QUESTION OF THE WEEK (MAY 24-APRIL 30, 2011)

The Poll question was all about Patch 4.1, I asked if Are you prepared? I am prepared for the patch because I did research and read a lot of blogs just to get some tips from them what to do, I sell some stuff I don't need that way I can earn some gold because when patch release the prices in the auction will be lowered then, getting extra profit from it is great.

From the results, this week only 5 8 votes total probably some people still hasn't discover my blog and did not see my poll question. For those who vote thank you, it did show that most votes this week is 6 voted "Yes, I am prepared" and 2 vote for "No, not really" and 0 "Maybe". Anyway, that is all for this post guys, again I apologized for missed day of not posting anything. but I did mention this in my plans if ever I can't post for the day I promised to make it up the next day, So I did... hope to hear any feedbacks from you! Have a good one! =D
